KDDI Q2 Slight Data ARPU Increase Doesn’t Cover Voice Losses;
Japanese telco KDDI has released its second quarter results—on the mobile side operating revenues increased by 0.7 percent to 679.8 billion yen (US$6.32 billion), although operating income fell by 8 percent to 139.2 billion yen (US$1.29 billion) due to a number of factors. Most significant is the fall in voice ARPU from 4,350 yen (US$40.43) in Q2 last year to 3,710 yen (US$34.48) for Q2 this year, a fall of almost 15 percent. KDDI predicts that voice ARPU will be 3,480 by Q2 next year.
